Ultimate
Whether you’re new to foraging or an experienced pro, the Forest Clay Ultimate kit contains everything you need to create professional-grade products in your own home. You’ll be guided through a simple process of foraging for your missing ingredient, then using it to make forest clay in your kitchen at home. It’s similar to baking a cake and requires the same equipment and roughly the same amount of time. Each kit contains enough ingredients to make 4 or 5 creations, natural paint to decorate them and a few extra treats.
Forest Clay Ultimate kit contains three very special vacuum-formed moulds to ensure your plastic-free products come out perfectly every time. Use them to sculpt stylish Animal Transformers, beautiful Candle Stackers or magic Marble Runners. Find out more about what makes our moulds so special below.

Forest Clay is A New Field's first biomaterial.
It’s a mix of salt, flour, citric acid and just the right amount of foraged ingredient. It’s a flexible, simple recipe designed to be fun and easy for makers of all ages. Forest Clay works best with pine cones and pine needles because the fibrous content builds better strength, and the natural stickiness of pine resin helps to bond the materials together.
When Forest Clay dries and hardens, it’s very tough but remains water soluble. You can help to make it water resistant by rubbing the end of a soy-wax candle (like the one provided in the kit!) over the surface of your creation - this acts like a wax you would use on wooden floors.
Forest Clay is, of course, completely natural. However, it does have a high salt content and so please don’t eat it, and wash your hands after kneading it. -
Almost all moulds for making products are made from plastic or materials containing lots of chemicals.
Not ours! A New Field moulds are the first of their kind. We scoured Europe for a natural material that could be vacuum formed. Finally we have successfully developed perfect moulds using a biomaterial called Fibernyl, made mostly from elephant grass! Our moulds - like everything else in an A New Field Kit - are fully biodegradable and compostable. -
A biomaterial is a material derived from, or produced by, biological organisms like plants, animals, bacteria, fungi and other life forms. They are plastic and artificial chemical-free. Biomaterials will be vital in the fight to reduce plastic use and preserve our natural environment. A New Field is pioneering the making and use of biomaterials at home.
Fibernyl, the biomaterial we use for the custom moulds in each pro kit is made from Elephant Grass. Partly because of this, the moulds are bio-based and biodegradable. This means that it is made from organic products and breaks down naturally. Elephant grass captures four times more CO2 than trees and does not require irrigation, fertilisers or pesticides.
