What is A New Field?
A New Field is in part research and development lab and in part a company that creates kits and experiences. We research and design new natural materials and making processes. We then create kits and experiences to bring those new materials to life — our aim is to bring foraging and sustainable biomaterials to every kitchen. If you can bake a cake, you can make an A New Field product from sustainable biomaterials!
Why is plastic a problem?
Unlike other materials, plastic does not biodegrade. It can take up to 1,000 years to break down, so when it is discarded, it builds up in the environment until it reaches a crisis point. This pollution chokes marine wildlife, damages soil and poisons groundwater, and can cause serious health impacts.
What is a sustainable biomaterial?
Sustainable biomaterials are materials that are all of the following:
harvested (or foraged!) from wild or sustainably managed land
made without using hazardous ingredients or processes
healthy and safe for the environment
designed to be recycled or composted
A New Field creates recipes for sustainable biomaterials. All of our recipes contain no plastic, no chemicals and are fully compostable and biodegradable.
